Do you have to have the desktop and the ipad touch 2 on I fye in order to get the ipad to connect on the internet?

This is my first time ever to work with the ipad.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I was a little confused on what you are asking. If you do not have 3G for your ipad then you do need Wifi. However, you do not need a desktop as well.

What I was asking, does both items have to be on Y fie in order for me to connect to the internet. Right now my desktop isn't wireless.

The party I got the ipad from told me I can use it as long as I had the internet. The ipad is suppose to have the y fie in it. So what I an trying to ask is can I connect the ipad to the internet as a stand alone unit? I tried last night to connect it to the internet and it wouldn't connect. That is why I was wondering if both the desktop and the ipad have to be connected to y fie.

I am not very good about explaining myself, so forgive me!

Thank you,

Hi,

Some how I lost my last post.

I figured it out! I can run the ipad as a stand alone unit.

Thank you for the help.

I hope I am not repeating myself

Yes, the iPad as you have found will operate over Wi fi and you no longer need to use iTunes. iCloud will keep your data and I have found it to work beautifully for me. Well the iPhone and iPod in my case, but similar situation for all these devices.
